Our Beautiful Angel, Lisa

December 8, 1962 – April 2, 1991

A Tribute from Ricky

"My inspiration to help kids with cancer and their family started many years ago. My sister Lisa was diagnosed with bone cancer at a young age. She was always positive and up lifting even when she was not feeling well. She would visit other patients to share information or just to say hi and to let them know that she was thinking of them. These newfound friends helped her through many difficult and hard times. Lisa has passed on but she is not forgotten. My family is still receiving letters from people saying that Lisa touched their hearts in a very special way.

My family and I experienced the stress and heartache that many families go through when a child becomes ill with a life threatening illness. I experienced first-hand the emotional ups and downs that a family goes through, the constant wondering if you’re doing enough or if you’re doing the right thing. After a time you become emotionally drained and it becomes harder to keep up a positive attitude. We sometimes are so focused on the child that we forget about the family and their needs. That is genesis of Pine Crest Farm Camp.

Lisa would have been proud to see how her legacy of positive support, comforting care and a helping compassionate attitude are being carried on through the program at Pine Crest Farm Camp for Kids with Cancer."

The dragonfly logo is a tribute to the tattoo Lisa's sisters got in her honor. The dragonfly is a character in a fable that explains the distance between the present world and the afterlife and the separation from the ones we loved and lost. Ultimately, as the story goes, we know that we will be with our dragonfly again one day.
